From Coffee Shop to Culinary Destination in Murphys
Grounds opened in 1992 as a coffee, pastry, and sandwich shop in Murphys’ downtown district and quickly became a local favorite. Responding to community demand, it soon expanded its menu and added a full bar, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Owner River Klass, a modest chef trained at the Sorbonne and in Parisian restaurants, is known for his culinary expertise and welcoming hospitality, and also owns the popular Firewood restaurant.
